About Me

About Me

I am Renne Gobuty, an Ordained Minister through the non-denominational Universal Life Church and a California state commissioned Notary Public.  Both, The Universal Life Church and I believe that "We are all children of the same universe".

I became a wedding officiant because I wanted to help couples plan their once in a lifetime moment their way.  Your wedding ceremony sets the tone for everything that comes after, from the reception to your actual marriage.  It is one of the most important and powerful memories both you and your guests will carry through the years.

Call or email me and let's start planning your special ceremony your way!

I am a member of the American Association of Wedding Officiants.

F.A.Q.

Both parties should visit any county clerk's office in California.  In the San Fernando Valley it would be the  Van Nuys Court House.  In Ventura County it would be the Ventura Court House.  In other parts of Los Angeles County and in Santa Barbara, you will need to check online for the most convenient office to your location.  Find out when their hours are, how much your license will cost, and what forms of identification and/or other documents will be needed.  Fees can be paid by cash or personal check only.  After the marriage license has been signed by the bride and groom and witnesses if needed, I will mail your license to the County Clerk's office to be filed.  You are responsible for obtaining registered copies. You can be married the same day or after your license is issued and must be married on or before the license expires or it becomes void.

California does not have a residency or blood test requirement for you to apply for a marriage license.

You only need to want to get married in beautiful California!
Marriage licenses are valid for 90 days from the date of issuance.  You must be married on or after the issuance date, and on or before the expiration date of the license.  Licenses not used within this timeframe are void.
Of course, you may write your own vows!  We can work together if you desire to combine some of the language I have into your own written vows.  I also have a large selection of vows to choose from if you find that is easier for you.
Each ceremony is unique and tailored to fit the couple.  On average, a simple casual ceremony is about 10 to 15 minutes.  A more formal ceremony can be anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes.  Time also depends on if you are doing a sub-ceremony such as a sand ceremony or rose presentation.
I generally will wear either a black skirt, dress, or slacks and a black blouse.  If you wish for me to wear a certain color or other attire, we can certainly discuss that and I will try to accommodate your request.
Your ceremony can be whatever you want it to be.  It can be as fun, as religious, as simple, or as formal as you want.  Together we will create a wedding ceremony that reflects who you both are.
That is entirely up to you both.  If your wedding has attendants, it is a good idea to have one so everyone knows what is expected of them and where they should be during the service.  It also helps to know what we can fix before the ceremony and helps to coordinate cues for seamless transitions.  All wedding party members (including both sets of parents, flower girls, and ring bearers) and your wedding planner (if you are using one) should attend the rehearsal.
I prefer to meet with every couple at least once before the ceremony.  It will be at a place and time that is mutually convenient for both of us.  If more meetings are necessary those can be arranged as needed.  That way we can have a table with chairs and Wi-Fi available.  I am always available by email or phone.  This meeting allows us to become familiar with each other and to see if we "fit together".  It also lets you tell me about your relationship and what you both see as your wedding vision.
My services to customize and perform your wedding ceremony are $275.  I require a non-refundable $75 deposit to book your date on my calendar.  I require the full balance of any unpaid fees (sub-ceremony and any travel fee to your venue) two weeks before services have been rendered.  I accept cash only for your deposit and the balance can be paid  with cash or personal check.  Any meetings between us after our first meeting will be at a mutually agreed upon place and time with a possible additional travel fee if 31 or more miles from my base.  I am always available by phone or email to answer your questions.

My fee includes being at your rehearsal (recommended and only if requested in advance) and travel to your venue within a thirty mile radius for both the rehearsal and ceremony from Newbury Park, CA  91320. Travel to your venue if it is  31 miles to 75 miles will have a travel fee of $50.

I also include the mailing of your signed wedding license to the county clerk's office within five days of your wedding date.  It is up to you to contact the county clerk's office for a certified copy of your marriage license.  For privacy issues, I do not keep copies of your signed marriage license.

Sub-ceremony fees are an additional $25 each.  It is your responsibility to provide items needed for your sub-ceremony (sand, containers, roses, bubbles, decorative ropes, or candles, etc.).

If you choose to add a sub-ceremony there is an additional $25 charge. You are responsible for providing the items needed (sand, containers, candles, etc.).
There are many ways to make your ceremony even more personal to you and your partner.  You can do this by adding a sub-ceremony.

Sub-ceremonies include a sand ceremony, rose presentation to the special women in your lives, bubble blowing recessional, and having a family member or friend do a special reading.  If you are interested in adding one of these or something else (ask me about my list) please let me know and we will work it in!
